Trend Summary

Despite the distinguishable designs, common trends were leather, blazers, metallic shades, trench coats, pastel colours and detailed floral prints.

Whether it is leather coats, leather skirts, or cropped jackets. This shiny and bad ass material has been making a common appearance on the runway. Some designers such as Givenchy have played with leather co-ords in colours such as emerald green and burgundy that are deep beautiful colours, perfect for the transitional season.

On a brighter note, Stella McCartney's collection focused mainly on pastel colours and loose silhouette clothing. Corals, peaches and mint green monochrome outfits were the most eye catching.

Blazers have been trending for the past year and they are still popping up on the runway. Worn traditionally on some models with matching trousers but also worn with more versatility with denim A line skirts or in interesting metallic shades.

In the Alexander Mcqueen show some blazers were embroidered, others were made of leather, and one even had some poofy white balloon sleeves.

If this years shows proved anything, it was that the colours, shapes and prints that blazers can come in have endless possibilities.

Gucci really took on board the current monogram print trend. Purple, blue and beige blazers were embroidered with this popular print. Gucci are known for being colourful and extravagant, this really came through with the clashing colour choices such as purple with green and red with yellow. This gave off a sophisticated but optimistic vibe that the 70's brought. Accessories such as oversized chain glasses and long sleeved gloves really perfected the looks.

For this season Balenciaga was my favourite designer. All the pieces were versatile and had their own charisma and character. From tracksuits to suits and dresses, the pieces could have been worn on the street for every day purposes or on a red carpet. The shoulders of the coats and blazers were structured and gave the outfit a lot of attitude, as did 'The Matrix' style sunglasses. Sexy skin tight wild prints and Cruella De Ville fur coats lined the runway. My only criticism of the show would be the opening pieces that were plane black blazers that had what looked like name badges on the chest. The models could have easily been mistaken for security guards...
